“Rehearsal Camp” is where we get most of our note-bashing done in the days leading up to the Performance. Don’t be put off by the word “camp” – no tents! We stay in the same kind of accommodation that the athletes did when attending the Commonwealth games – so pretty comfortable shared rooms – so you can “get a room” with your friends. Or make new ones.

Bring your own bedding/sleeping-bag.   The stay is fully catered (including any special dietary requirements), and we get to spend a lot of time together learning the music, with a lot of social interaction not only at tea/meal-breaks, but also at a variety of social events.

You’ll make some life-long friendships, and have a lot of fun.

Our camp this year sees a return to a venue that was an old favourite from the 1950’s right through to 1979 when it was closed for refurbishment and expansion. The old-guard will barely recognise Tallebudgera Sports and Recreational Centre these days, as it was almost completely rebuilt. The creek and the beach, however, remain as unchanged as ever.

Camp is held over five nights from when you arrive on Thursday 2nd July, through to your departure on the morning of Tuesday 7th. Thereafter, we all board the coach/train to Brisbane.

Back in Brisbane, we have two options for accommodation:

  • “Billeting” – Our transport and billeting officer will make arrangements on your behalf, based upon your needs.
  • “Make Your Own Arrangements” – Some folk may prefer to stay with friends of their own in Brisbane, or in a hostel / hotel.

Rehearsals for the remainder of the week (Tuesday afternoon through to Friday 10th) will be at UQ Campus St Lucia, with Saturdays rehearsals being in the Cathedral where the Concert will take place that evening.
